John Bell, FCA, FCPA, ICD.D, brings a distinguished 40-year career of business success, executive management, corporate governance, financing, M&A, pharmaceutical industry, and cannabis industry expertise to Pure Jamaican.  John is currently Chairman of Canopy Rivers Corporation (TSE:RIV) and a Director of CURE Pharmaceutical (OTC:CURR); a former Director and Past-Chairman of Canopy Growth Corporation (NYSE:CGC), and a former Director of DelMar Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:DMPI). He is also Founder and current Managing Partner of the private equity and investment firm Onbelay Capital Inc., Cambridge, CN. John K. Bell Chairman of the Board

As a Director from 2014-2020 and Past-Chairman of Canopy Growth, John helped grow the company into the world’s largest cannabis company, achieving a peak market cap of over $20 billion. John serves as Chairman of Canopy Rivers, leading this Canopy Growth venture capital spinoff through IPO in 2019.  Of additional relevance to Pure Jamaican’s mission to become the leading supplier of cannabis Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients globally, John also has corporate governance and domain expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving on the boards of CURE Pharmaceutical and Remy Biosciences. In 1977, John founded Shred-Tech Limited growing it into a global leader in recycling technology, pioneering the now-ubiquitous mobile document shredder. John sold Shred-tech to an NYSE Company in 1995, and purchased Polymer Technologies Inc. Under John’s leadership, the company grew exponentially from a $9 million plastics company into a $125 million auto parts manufacturer, and was recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies before being sold in 2005. He also took BSM Wireless to a $100 million valuation prior to exit, and served as a Director of Automatic Tooling Systems (TSE:ATA) with worldwide manufacturing facilities, 3,500 employees, $1.5 billion in sales and a $1.6 billion market cap.

Active in community enhancement, John has served as Chairman of Waterloo Regional Police, Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Canada’s Community Triangle Accelerator Network, Region of Waterloo Prosperity Council, as National Secretary of Crohn’s and Colitis – Canada, and is currently a Governor of the world famous Stratford Shakespearean Festival.
